# Bitmap Lot Inscription Standard (BLIS Protocol)

### Overview

The Bitmap Lot Inscription Standard is a protocol for generating unique and unpredictable identifiers that represent fractionalized lots of land in the metaverse using the `.lot` namespace. The protocol is an extension of [Bitmap Theory](https://gitbook.bitmap.land/3-toolbox/bitmap-theory-101) and ensures that the inscription text is unknown until it is created by the landowner, preventing the unauthorized claiming of land by rogue inscribers. This allows owners to issue lots of land within their Bitmap as plain-text inscriptions without the fear of a user inscribing a random `.lot` namespace that collides with a valid identifier.

Additionally, we explore an idea for how to appropriately size lots.
